Ron Burgundy anyone?

1 / 2 / 3 / 4

So what fall trends are you digging? I just had a chance to dig into some September issues this past weekend, and my initial instinct would be... not very many. A lot of it feels way too runway to me, at least at this point. Leather, while sure it looks hot, is just way too expensive for most of us normal folk to wear as a dress, top, shorts or what have you. And not really into the crazy mirrored prints, the Asian-inspired prints, the varsity jacket or the street sporty/futuristic thing. Also pretty over military and the overly bejewelled.

I'm sure I'll quickly be changing my tune about some of that stuff, because it's already happened with the color of the season. I saw that burgundy was big for fall and thought no way. Maroon/burgundy would normally be my answer for least favorite color (sorry to my A&M friends). But, the more burgundy I've now seen in clothes, shoes and accessories for fall the more I have to have it.

1. Pleated Crepe Skirt - JCrew (color of this is much deeper in catalog)  / 2. DVF Wedge Ankle Boots - netaporter  /  3. Gem Bib Baublebar  /  4. Heritage Leather Satchel Madewell  /  5. Peplum Top Topshop  /  6. Mossimo skinny denim - Target  / 7. Counting Sheep sweater - Madewell  /  8. Chaufur Flat - Steve Madden  /  9. Skirting the Issue - Essie  /  10. J.Brand Cords - netaporter

A few other things I'm totally into for fall are peplum, equestrian, casual brogues, the peter pan collar and full skirts (have always been a fan of those). What are you feeling/not feeling? Feel free to completely disagree with me.

Stay classy.

But now we also really want to order some "Morgans":

And some "Elles" (smaller version of the "Danielle"):

Which color??!  Happy Labor Day weekend, y'all!

PS:  We were not paid or perked to talk about these earrings...but we wish we were.

Sparkle System

Tissue Tassel Garland, $32

Found here on Etsy...I want one!  Or twelve!  I think it would look so cool to have a bunch in rows up and down a narrow space.  I'm sure Henry would LOVE it (every once in a while, he complains that he's living in a girl's house).

I love them all.

Pink and Yellow, Pink and Yellow, Pink and Yellow, Pink and Yellow

As soon as I saw this picture, I thought of that Wiz Khalifa song. One of Dac's favorites to sing. Then I thought, what an awesome color combo this is.

I already had this skirt from Anthro:

So, inspired by that pretty picture, I bought this little oh-so-afforable ($13) top from H&M:

I can't help but feel I will look a little Easter egg-ish... or maybe cotton candy? But it's fun nonetheless.

Today is my official last day at my current job, I'm heading to Vegas this evening (a previously-planned trip, not to celebrate my new or old job), and starting my new job on Monday. One heck of an exciting week/weekend. And even better than all that, Baby Wendel will be here so very soon!
I am one truly...

You Are My Sunshine

I was so honored to be a part of Sam's high school graduation day/weekend. He is one talented, unique, cool dude who has done amazing things already in life. I can't wait to see what's to come in his glaring bright future (starting with IU.. woo HOO!).

Speaking of bright, I have been loving that yellow number I got from H&M awhile back. Yellow is an unexpected favorite of mine. I forget about it, then occasionally pick it up from the rack and fall in love all over again.

Rainbow Run

Our awesome cousin Maria posted about "The Color Run" and the pictures looked so fun I had to check it out.  Turns out it's coming to DC this fall, near the end of October - it's a 5k for which you wear white and get covered in color throughout the run (or "easy-paced jog" as I prefer to call it).  I do not like running and I'm really bad at it, but I want some motivation for getting in shape post-baby, and I've done the "couch to 5k" program before - it's not too bad.  Anyone want to join me for the race?  If you're not in DC, they run them all over the country!  More information here:

The Bold and the Beautiful

I've been out of commission the past couple of days with a terrible-horrible-no-good-very-bad stomach virus (still not great today, but on the mend!), so wanted to post some bright, happy things to make me feel better.  I hope they make you feel better too.

Color Me Coral

Let me of course start by saying HOOOOORAY for Baby Wendel!!!!! I'm way beyond pumped for this baby to get here. SO very happy for Katie and Henry - I've been dying for her to share the news on here... one big reason obviously being so I can start posting about all of the things I want to buy for "lil homey!" (Don't be surprised if you see as many posts - maybe more - from me about Katie's baby as you do from her.)

Speaking of buying things, I bought this nail polish last week:
It's Essie's "meet me at sunset," and I'm obsessed with the color. But who knew that I had psychic powers and that really I was purchasing what would be the best color at the Oscars, via the beautiful Michelle Williams?

The picture of the polish looks a little more orangey than it really is. In real life (at least the bottle I bought) it's got more red in it and pretty much perfectly matches the dress. This coral-y dress is absolute perfection to me. If I got to go to the Oscars, this is what I would want to wear. Of course the bow detail is my favorite part, but the ruching and the peplum make it just the best thing I've ever seen. And it's such a happy color that looks great with her skin. Best dressed blue ribbon, for sure.

Turns Out It Actually IS Easy Being Green

By the end of the March issue of House Beautiful, I was totally feelin' green (digging the color I mean, not feeling inexperienced or green with envy). As the editor in chief said in his letter, I want to "roll around in it." It has always caught my eye more than most colors, but I never realized how neutral it really can be.

The room featured on the cover (this one) shows how gorgeous different shades of green can be together:

I also love full out green...

And patterned green...

And green accents...

And the blue/green combo (very earthy)...

And MINT green (might be my fave)...

I will be working a lot of green into our house when we buy. Can't wait!

Here are some ways to add a little green to your life:

Have a mean green day.
