You're the One That I Want

You are the one I want...ooh ooh ooh HONEY.  Below are a few of the things I'm loving on Etsy lately - I love that blueberry pie costume SO MUCH.  And I think that horseshoe necklace is so pretty (charming, even!)

Ron Burgundy anyone?

1 / 2 / 3 / 4

So what fall trends are you digging? I just had a chance to dig into some September issues this past weekend, and my initial instinct would be... not very many. A lot of it feels way too runway to me, at least at this point. Leather, while sure it looks hot, is just way too expensive for most of us normal folk to wear as a dress, top, shorts or what have you. And not really into the crazy mirrored prints, the Asian-inspired prints, the varsity jacket or the street sporty/futuristic thing. Also pretty over military and the overly bejewelled.

I'm sure I'll quickly be changing my tune about some of that stuff, because it's already happened with the color of the season. I saw that burgundy was big for fall and thought no way. Maroon/burgundy would normally be my answer for least favorite color (sorry to my A&M friends). But, the more burgundy I've now seen in clothes, shoes and accessories for fall the more I have to have it.

1. Pleated Crepe Skirt - JCrew (color of this is much deeper in catalog)  / 2. DVF Wedge Ankle Boots - netaporter  /  3. Gem Bib Baublebar  /  4. Heritage Leather Satchel Madewell  /  5. Peplum Top Topshop  /  6. Mossimo skinny denim - Target  / 7. Counting Sheep sweater - Madewell  /  8. Chaufur Flat - Steve Madden  /  9. Skirting the Issue - Essie  /  10. J.Brand Cords - netaporter

A few other things I'm totally into for fall are peplum, equestrian, casual brogues, the peter pan collar and full skirts (have always been a fan of those). What are you feeling/not feeling? Feel free to completely disagree with me.

Stay classy.

IHWSH - Kendra Scott Earrings

Just a short "I'll Have What She's Having" for the long weekend - we want earrings!  All Kendra Scott jewelry is 20% off over the weekend (use code LDW20).  We each own a pair (or 3) already and wear them all the time!  Our favs are "Danielle":

And "Carly":

But now we also really want to order some "Morgans":

And some "Elles" (smaller version of the "Danielle"):

Which color??!  Happy Labor Day weekend, y'all!

PS:  We were not paid or perked to talk about these earrings...but we wish we were.

Weekend Finds at Old Navy

Just "spotted" this pic on Pinterest, and knew right away that I had also "spotted" that sweater at Old Navy over the weekend. Yup! One and the same. I think something similar may have been at Madewell last season, but I'm not judging the ON. Selling something adorable for less? I'm all for it.

I actually bought one of their boat neck sweaters this past weekend, but it was this one instead (also an idea maybe borrowed from Madewell, or possibly J.Crew):

heart sweater

J.Crew has been selling these beautiful, classic ballet flats for quite some time, in a wide range of colors. This specific pair is $125.

J.Crew
I've been eyeing them for a long time but always think, "Surely I can find these for like $20 somewhere else." My search proved more challenging than I thought - until Old Navy this past weekend. They have several different colors of basically the same shoe, for $19.94. I wanted all of them, but settled for just the gold
I mean, it's not an exact replica, but pretty darn close, right? They're not as pointy in person as they appear in this pic. They had lots of great patent options too:

Find them all here.
And I had to hold myself back from a lot of other stuff in store. We are buying a house that I will want to decorate, after all.

Some parting words that I'm trying hard to live by this week with many, many looming deadlines over my head:

Pink and Yellow, Pink and Yellow, Pink and Yellow, Pink and Yellow

As soon as I saw this picture, I thought of that Wiz Khalifa song. One of Dac's favorites to sing. Then I thought, what an awesome color combo this is.

I already had this skirt from Anthro:

So, inspired by that pretty picture, I bought this little oh-so-afforable ($13) top from H&M:

I can't help but feel I will look a little Easter egg-ish... or maybe cotton candy? But it's fun nonetheless.

Today is my official last day at my current job, I'm heading to Vegas this evening (a previously-planned trip, not to celebrate my new or old job), and starting my new job on Monday. One heck of an exciting week/weekend. And even better than all that, Baby Wendel will be here so very soon!
I am one truly...

You Are My Sunshine

I was so honored to be a part of Sam's high school graduation day/weekend. He is one talented, unique, cool dude who has done amazing things already in life. I can't wait to see what's to come in his glaring bright future (starting with IU.. woo HOO!).

Speaking of bright, I have been loving that yellow number I got from H&M awhile back. Yellow is an unexpected favorite of mine. I forget about it, then occasionally pick it up from the rack and fall in love all over again.

Inspired by Downton

I finally got the message and watched Downton Abbey this past weekend (just season 1 so far). And, just like everyone else I know who's seen it, I'm hooked. And how awesome would it be to have someone pick out beautiful, albeit very formal, clothes for you every day? I especially love Lady Mary's dress in the pic above. With the drama of Downton on the brain, thought I would put together a pretty little modern day summer outfit inspired by her look:

Braided sheen hat - anthro  /  Songbird dress - madewell (Think Madewell may have gotten their inspiration from Downton on this one too?)  /  Refined silk cashmere wrap - jcrew (had to add a splash of mint - my biggest color crush of the moment)  /  Gumdrop studs - kate spade (Katie gave me these as a gift for hosting her shower, and I've worn them pretty much every day since.)  /  Braided belt - madewell  /  Summer wedge - fossil (These are my new fave shoes for summer.)

One of my favorite quotes from season one: "What's a 'weekend?'" (Lady Grantham)

Cheers,

Printy Skinny

What's grey and spotty and comfy all over? My new favorite pants. I love all the printed denim out there right now, but most of the ones I like are pretty pricey... so I wanted to get a pair I know I will wear a lot. I ended up going with the AG grey pin dot Stevie ankle jeans. They are super versatile - a neutral with a kick.

They are equal parts cute and comfy, made from this amazing stretchy fabric, and they hit perfectly at the ankle and look great with heels or flats. You may have noticed them on the Anthro model pic I featured awhile back. Clearly they look great paired with a floral top. So far I've worn them with chambray, a bright flowy top, and just a basic top and cute scarf... the options are endless.

Some more great printed skinnies:

Happy hump day!

Well Dressed

As I've told my law-school-best-friend Amy, I have been expanding ever so dutifully over the past 6 months, and I am grateful and lucky to do so.  Finding cute clothes has not been easy (being over 6 feet tall does not help), but it also has not been a priority...I kinda just don't care right now.  But that does not mean that I can't appreciate when someone else puts something awesome together, and I had fun putting together a couple of outfits for me to wear this next summer:

This gorgeous dress:

With these shoes:

And this watch:

OR, this dress:

Which would you pick?  I think you'd look fly in either one.
