I Ain't Settlin'...

Dac and I are just starting to begin the process of searching for a house in Kansas City. We're looking around on different real estate sites and going to the occasional open house. We haven't really gotten serious yet since we are in a lease through September, but already I can tell that I'm going to have some trouble finding the house that's "just right" and also in our price range. It's Pinterest's fault. It has turned me into a bit of a house snob.

I mean how can I help it when, on a daily basis, I'm looking at pictures like these:

All images via my "Rooms/Colors" board on Pinterest (sorry for the sourcing laziness).

When it comes to house hunting, I have to wonder... Does the perfect house exist?
The answer is probably no, and you have to turn it into the house you want over time (take Young House Love for example). So I guess I have to face the facts - these houses/rooms are going to have to stay in my dreams... and, of course, on my Pinterest boards.

Any advice for someone searching for the "perfect" home?

  2. You can turn any house with great bones in a good location into something this gorgeous!! My realtor talked me out of a fixer-upper as a single, first-time homebuyer, but my next home is going to need a whole lot of TLC. Just don't bite off more than you can chew.... although I know I won't take my own advice! ;-)
