How the Golden Girls Made Me a Winner

Way back in October, I shared a recurring dream I had growing up with blog-famous Jenny in a little contest she had on her blog:

I haven't had this one in a while, but growing up I had this dream about once a week:
It's a sunny day and I wander outside (the house where I grew up in Indiana)...when I get out to the driveway, I find the Golden Girls! And they are dressed in chiffon gowns, each their own color. I remember in the dream they always reminded me of the three fairies from Disney's Sleeping Beauty. They explain to me that my parents were in a tragic plane crash and that now they will be taking care of me. They would soothe me (even though I wasn't really upset about these new circumstances) and start listing all the delicious food they will make me (peanut butter and honey sandwiches! banana pudding! better cheddars!). The 5 of us head inside and watch soaps (Guiding Light and As the World Turns) together and then I wake up.

She picked my dream as a winner and painted me a special custom painting for having this dream!  It was a pretty cool experience to have someone paint something just for me - we emailed back and forth about where it would go and what colors/style are in the room.  I didn't give her much direction other than "I'd like it to go in the baby's room" and "I want it to go with this floral fabric I'm trying to score for the baby's room."  And she sent me this:

So pretty, right?  And I am loving a lot of her new stuff too, you can find her paintings and other treasures at her shop Minty (actually, it looks like her paintings aren't up there right now...you can also just email her about them).

Also, don't read too much into that dream - I think most of it stemmed from the fact that I wasn't allowed to watch the Golden Girls at home when I was little, but I would watch it with Beep Beep (one of my Grandmas) when we stayed over there (and I super loved it).  I have the best parents around, so the fact that I wasn't upset about their plane crash is unexplainable.  They must've been making my 7-year-old-self mad.

Anyone else have crazy recurring dreams (now or when you were a nutso little kid?)

This is now hanging in Nora's room, pictures to come!

And a Nora pic from yesterday, just for good measure (photo taken by her Uncle Sam).
